Council Gains Green Dragon Award

Torfaen Councils Eco-building & Springboard Innovation Centre are celebrating achieving Level 2 of the Green Dragon Environmental Management Standard.

The eco-building is environmentally friendly and was built with sustainability in mind. Features of the building include straw bale insulation, rainwater harvesting, photo-sensitive lighting, recycled cellulose insulation and a small photo-voltaic / wind turbine system.

The eco-building has recently gained fair-trade workplace status and can now add Green Dragon Level 2 accreditation to its achievements.

The Springboard Innovation Centre has been set up to increase the number of quality, sustainable business start ups within Torfaen. It is unique to the area as it offers small to medium businesses the opportunity to grow with the latest technology.
